I've got the blues in my view!

Blue is the new black for 2015. I'm researching and the picture I found on www.pouted.com just made me want to get rid of everything and go blue. Of course we know it's just a trend.

A few ways to embrace a trend without losing your own individual style is little hints of the trending color, an accessory or a print that has a touch of the color that's currently trending. This goes for fashion as well as home decor. One color can change a room in a matter of seconds. It will also add life to an oldie but goodie item such as a dress, or a statement chair.

Don't be afraid to try what everyone is doing but put your own twist on it. Blue is beautiful but what will make it my blues? I will keep you posted on my twist of WinStyles blues. [Photo credit www.pouted.com]

New Year...my how time moves fast!

Happy New Year! I started this blog almost five years ago. I haven't been consistent with blogging due to life. We get caught up in our day to day that we do not realize how fast time moves.

I was given a vision last year to start the "Dream on Movement". I am unsure of where it will go but I pray that I learn to trust God and jump out on faith. I don't believe that our goals should be put into affect because it is a new year but strive to be better than we were yesterday.

2015 will be better than 2014 and tomorrow will be better than today reach for your dreams constantly. Set goals and believe that God is in control.

Way Back When Wednesday!

Wednesday Inspiration to get out and wear something you are unsure of. Do something you are uneasy about. Live a lot, not a little. Don't be afraid to go out there and get what you want. Life is what we make it. #dreamonmovement

Head in the clouds, absolutely!

My mind has been going on and on with this Dream On movement.  The ideas keep coming. Everyone daydreams and drifts off but my head is in the clouds on this one. Not the typical meaning but the I'm up here flying high on this vision. Yes I need to put it into action. The difficulty in all honesty has been a fear of failing to make my vision clear. Will people get it? I remember as a young girl how my thoughts and visions  were always misunderstood.  At 34 years old why should I care if someone gets what I'm trying to do. Well we all face questions like this daily and overcome the doubt eventually.

Sometimes we get a clear answer just as I did via the fortune cookie right after my last post. What you thought God wouldn't confirm your visions? Well I was shocked too. I felt the need to share. I also have great followers despite my inconsistancy. Keep you head above the water by flying above the skies. Don't forget to Dream On and make those visions reality. More to come as I embrace this vision.

Dream On!

Have you ever pondered why inspiration can come often or not at all? I realized that it is a way of thinking. I had conditioned myself to allow negative influences to cloud my views. Having a conversation with a positive thinker and I said something and had a "ah hah" moment. Oprah uses this phrase when you here that whisper from God saying listen to me, I'm giving it to you to run with. This is my opinion of what an "ah ha" moment is.

The year previous was preparing me for what's next in my life. I let go of some dead weight but also have been holding grudges. If you don't see change start forgiving and moving forward I guarantee things will start moving like never before. Grudges will keep you stagnant. Who needs that?

So here it is I've been saying I'm doing what I have to so I can do what I want. But it leads me here, do you still dream?  Why is it that we seem to stop dreaming while we are trying to survive? Have we given up or given in? God speaks to us daily. We have people shutting down our dreams or God's vision for us constantly.  Check those who doubt you. Be aware that everyone is not for you. Once you've been given a vision run with it. Dream on is a catch phrase people use sarcastically to shut your dreams down. Watch this I'm flipping this negative phrase into a positive catch phrase. As clear as day in the middle of a conversation God said Dream on is yours.  Despite all that has been said dream on and make my vision for you a visual reality. Meaning show them so they can see it.

This is just the beginning of "Dream On" so I look forward to what's next. I share as always with some hope that you get inspired. Watch me style this.

Who am I, what's next for me and where am I going?

Everyone wants honesty at least that's what we say. I am a straight to the cut honest, loyal, and humble soul. As much as I like the truth it has the ability to sometimes hurt or alter my view of what it really is. "It" being whatever the subject is. So today it all came into perspective caused by a conversation I had with someone I shall name "Brooklyn". Little bit of background needed to add understanding to this post. I have always been creative and a free spirit. Fashion was my passion but I lost some drive. Fashion was my go to because uniforms were required at schools I attended even through high school. Styling came into thought after so many people would ask me to dress them or ask advise on what they had on even down to a purchase they questioned. I have never been one for labels so sometimes I mix my styles from lowest to what my budget allows. I can find treasures anywhere.  Back to conversation with "Brooklyn" I don't look the part, meaning how can you style if you are not putting effort into your look. Okay so this may be somewhat of a truth. I went from working full time, trying to balance family life while attempting to make my blog and styling gigs work. Now I am unemployed running in circles and haven't dedicated myself to what I call my calling. So I am taking some steps back, setting some new goals, and figuring out a plan so I can make things happen. Who knows what's next...only God knows.  He has a purpose for me.

Weeks Thrifty Finds

Hey people hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. This weeks thrift store find is a perfect for what we value in those who give their lives for the freedoms we have today. Although we wear dog tags for style the soldiers who wear them may not make it home to their families. We should value and honor those who have paved the way for our freedoms. I also found a book called The House at Sugar Beach by Helene Cooper. I will update more about the book once I've read it. I love my freedoms and those who sacrificed their lives. Hey look up Memorial Day history to get the facts you'll be surprised at what you learn.

Street Style Game Night

I happen to be friends with a great stylish couple who invite me into their home for what we call game night. Last night everyone had something for me to blog about but the night got away from me. The host Jason who will soon be known for his own label had what I call Long Island street gear. Everytime I see this dude I am like ok I see you. Can't wait for his own label to break out. He is rocking Obey hat and sweater, Levi olive denim pants, and the classic Timberlands. Effortless look lots of character. That rose gold watch by Michael Kors was hidden but I see it Mr. Game Night. Don't worry I will get first dibs when his label breaks LI out and bring it to you first before you see it on the streets.

Radio is it for me? Doesn't matter I'm on the air!

www.2duniverseradio.com my 2nd time on DJ Priminista's broadcast. May turn this into a weekly thing. I have lots to discuss. Let me know what you want to chat about.

Men's Trends....who's wearing what?

A friend inquired about Men's Trends for Spring and Summer this year. Believe it or not men will wear floral, stripes, loafers, and European cut trousers. Pink is also in. I need to hit the streets to see if I can find a man embracing at least on of theses trends. Ocho Cinco is one of the men who embraced the loafer trend fully. His shoe game would put must women to shame. Andre 3000 has been wearing European cuts in his pants for quite sometime. This will be my goal this week. Watch out for upcoming posts.

Shoe Pick of the Week!

Floral is in. These naughty sandals by Free People will make that denim shirt with white shorts look effortless...

I too am a Victim....

We all fall victim to a comfort trend. Mine is leggings. They stretch, hold us in all the right places, and are very comfortable. I have prints, solid, textured and so on and so forth. Now the problem with these is you loose a sense of weight gain as well as a set style or look. No effort is needed to dress up or down. I was happy to see gauchos back meaning a structured style is on the way. Time to add swats and a run to the regiment. Now that I fallen victim I acknowledge my error in not incorporating other things to my wardrobe and becoming lazy when dressing. Now that I have admitted this I have to find some crazy prints for bottoms this summer. Loving the look of easy breezy but ready to eliminate my lazy ways. Ballet flats are also on my list but I'm going to need more time...what fashion trend is holding you hostage?

Inspiration of the week!

Popping some tags...Thrift finds

What's the word people. Today for me it was Thrift store. I have been a thrifty shopper for many years. It all started back in high school at Salvation Army near NYU. This was like heaven for a kid with chore funds. They had vinyl albums, vintage ties, and my favorite of all leather blazers. I can spot great things immediately. Today was a good day at Unique thrift store in Westbury, NY. Yes some people don't get it but I have no problem with finding treasures. If you have patience and want one of a kind style this is the price you pay. Okay well not costly price but looking through items until you find it. It meaning the one thing you thought you wouldn't find. I spent less than $25.00 and came out with a cute summer clutch, a vintage green suade with leather pocketbook, two really nice necklaces and these must add to the collection earrings. I may be willing to give something away if you are willing to share your coolest thrift store find on instagram #winpearsstyles. Follow me @winpears on instagram or @winpearsstyles on Twitter. Always a great day to shop but if you can't I will for you. Enjoy!

I didn't forget you

So everyone was looking for a post yesterday. Yesterday I ran for my life. I've been busy with nothing. My inspiration yesterday were some denim Vans but didn't post about them. I have to research the once popular skateboard sneaker brand. They have all types of sneakers now that have long left the thick white soles and now have a sleeker look. So while I get to my research I will leave you with my first Vans experience. I must have been 13 or 14 years old when I purchased my first pair of Vans. Black suade with white rubber bottoms thick white laces. While everyone was wearing classic reeboks I needed something different. I rarely followed the trends for many reasons but I wore those sneakers into the ground not only for style but comfort. Many people didn't get it but I was way ahead of the game back then. Next posts I will see what designers may have joined the force for Vans to push the sneakers to a more visible level. Enjoy the day people. What was your childhood stand out piece? Let me know via Twitter @winpearsstyles or instagram @winpears

New Beginnings

Yes it has been a moment. Hope all my followers haven't given up on me. Happy Mothers day to all the mothers. I have comitted to post a blog everyday this week today starts a new week so here is my first post. The time has come for me to focus on a few things that I claim to have little time for. See we all lose focus at one time or another. Anyone who knows a little bit about WinPears knows I can find time but I move at my own pace. Indecisive behavior has seemed to cause me a few set backs. Yes I can admit my faults. So I have challenged myself to post everyday this week something new, inspiring, and iteresting. Even if I just post a picture.  I have nothing but time due to recent events. May hit Brooklyn or something check back tomorrow. Yes the fro will be in full.

''Jowelz" Boutique... Dare to be Fashionable

Yes I have been away but my search for a boutique worth featuring did not stop. I found this new boutique"Jowelz" riding down Merrick Boulevard in Laurelton N.Y. Although this is not the dress that caught my eye it is boutiques owner Alicia Mitchells favorite.

This boutiques owner is a mother of two and wife still making moves because she "Dares to be fashionable" her theme. She has no problem telling you she is blessed to have this opportunity. Her employee Christine was also welcoming and down to earth. The vibe is more like girlfriends helping you get it together.

Alicia is the buyer for her boutique, she knows what is in and how to set a trend. Her accessories are definatly the highlight with some touches of vintage here and there. My favorite item are these Quad Flight vintage sunglasses $250. Clutches start at $110 and are so unique from the typical find. The accessories are the highlight and Alicia is adding shoes for upcoming fall and winter season. Check them out at www.jowelzinc.com or follow them on facebook better to stop by 222-12 Merrick Blvd, Laurelton NY

Summer in the City

I have been quiet for a moment and I am ready to start back because I was inspired to share on what a beautiful summer it has been thus far. Yes it is hot out here in the Big Apple but that doesn't stop us from setting trends, rocking accessories, and being all out stylish. New Yorkers have a way of making all others question there ability to put things together. From cut off shorts with blazers to plain tanks with bold chunky neck pieces. New Yorkers are so unique that a trend is never a must but instead a go to with a twist. So although I have no street styles posted yet and no trend watches noted believe me I am inspired by the people. Even the men are going over and beyond to make statements, now if I can get a few to stop showing me their under garments sexy would be back. It is a must that a store gets featured and a stret style is posted so if you want to be featured because you are setting a trend or know you are uniquely styled email me at winpearsstylings@hotmail.com to be featured. Until my next feature enjoy this heat.
